Cluster Analysis

After a threshold is applied, the smooth, continuous ALE image has been segregated into several discrete regions of particularly strong results. These regions, also known as clusters, are volumes in space that are above the chosen threshold and all the voxels are connected into one contiguous region.

The number and size of clusters can change with small changes in the significance threshold.

Each cluster volume can be analyzed to give geometric statistics, like bounds and center of mass, as well as a list of each of the coordinates of maximal values with in the region.

Other data, such as the anatomical labels in the Talairach atlas, can be compiled for each region.
